Hillary as Mark Antony

Is it my imagination or were there overtones of 'For Brutus is an honourable man' about Hillary's concession speech?

    I did not read Hillary’s concession speech, so I cannot comment.

    But I do think she would have made a viable president. It is Bill’s return as Queen Consort I was concerned about. When he seemed effortlessly perfect, I had not doubt that he was going to be a moral liability. I said so at the time of his election and, to my knowledge, was the only one to do so (copyright intact).

    If Hillary is Mark Anthony, Bill was cast in the mould of a Catalina. On balance, his personality must rank amongst the vilest of the age. And whereas Obama is very generation-specific in terms of his appeal, Bill’s return to the White House would have been like a criminal returning to the scene of his crime.

    Good riddance, I say, the pair of them...

    I think you're right. A few too many references to "Senator" Obama (who he?), and then recalling how she'd worked with him in the Senate for as long as four years. And, of course, she is only "suspending" her campaign as well as insisting on control of any donations that will now go to Obama but which would otherwise have gone to her.

    If Obama makes it to the White House - and I have doubts considering the strictly domestic agenda of the voters who live in the USA, not in Europe - it looks as if it will be with Clinton fangs firmly embedded in his ankle. He may be better off giving them the push right now.

    She would have money issues had she used concession or any form of words that amounted to that. And she might have hope that between now and August, the Republicans shake something loose.

    As you have made quite clear that you can't abide her or anything she says or does, I'm tempted to say it is your imagination, but it wasn't. As the Mark Antony features of it followed a rather standard format of such pre-convention concession speeches, I'm not sure why it is particularly remarkable, though.
