For Elberry

I receive a warm email from Elberry. This contains the important news that he has recommenced posting on his blog . Go there at once. Elberry has also just finished reading Aliens. He seemed to like it a great deal. While working on this book I had myself hypnotised and, while in London, I saw a flying saucer in Norfolk. The wonders of Nikon optics recently allowed me to recreate exactly what I saw, exactly where I saw it. So, Elberry, here it is.

  1. I like the fact that you are so candid about things. Most people would hide behind stories of drug use, alcohol, dementia, but you just come right out and say that you saw a UFO.

Like all that crying business the other day. Wonderful.

  2. but what Bryan isn't telling is that while he was seeing a flying saucer, the rest of the audience were watching him dance around the stage like a chicken...

  3. I think it was hop like a frog, Ian, and it didn't look like a stage, but who am I to say?

  4. Gosh, thanks. i was somewhat shamefaced this morning, as i'd written the email while quite drunk and feared it was actually one of my incredibly long and non-syntactical rants, usually culminating in a death threat.

  6. Are you sure someone hasn't nuked Norwich?

  7. I have been waiting to have my integrity tested! And I now wish to express my gratitude to Bryan for helping to clarify several ill-defined points in my earlier attempt at rationalizing the UFO phenomenon:

  8. Interesting that the radiance is coming from above the trees, reminds me of Twin Peaks where the Project Blue Book guys get a message that, amidst what seems to be static, says, over & over again "the owls are not what they seem". The message, picked up by a satellite, came not from outer space but from the woods around Twin Peaks.

Photo reminds me of this one:

Just remembered my mother, as a girl back in the 50s, woke to see a tall humanoid figure with enormous , terrifying eyes in her room, then fell back asleep. She didn't connect it with aliens, didn't have any idea what it was.

Of course my father regularly conversed with the spirits of his (generally bonkers) ancestors, but then he was a bit odd.

  10. Look at a cat's face in the dark and you will see what most people take as an alien standing by their beds surveying them. No wonder you hate cats, Bryan.

  11. i found his communications with the dead a bit odd because they were so matter-of-fact, "well, egh, I fell asleep driving home on the M1 and the spirits, egh, drove the car to the M62, egh?" and so on. i suppose i'd expected a bit of incense and black robes and chanting, bit bemused that the spirits would have anything to do with his crappy 2nd hand Ford Escort.

  12. i just remembered a friend whose dealings with the dead are as matter-of-fact, he'll pass on a dead friend's remarks on our conversation, which far from earth-shatteringly portentous tend to be rather droll. When i asked my friend about what it's like being dead - or not physically alive - he said it's pretty much like being alive, and that just as spirits can possess the living, so the living allow corporations, abusive husbands, bosses etc., to possess them.
