Prizes

In The Sunday Times I write about the power of prizes.

  1. Sorry Bryan, the link appears busted.

  2. I donate a prize of twenty two pounds seventeen and six to the first person who invents a substance that removes lawyers, from the planet.
Branson's American version of Barnes Wallis is a genius, he would never get off the ground in this country.

  3. I claim my prize, Malty. My invention is a sock loaded with billiard balls. Guaranteed to work on all lawyers. If you're out of billiard balls, three inch ball bearings work just as well.

  4. Good one, Malty. One needs some kind of aerosol spray called, perhaps, "WP" (for Without Prejudice). A single application instantly causes the brief to shrivel up and disappear, like the cartoon bugs in those TV adverts which try to pretend they are not about lavatories when they are about nothing but lavatories. Nothing personal, of course, but when it comes to lawyers one can't be too careful.

  5. Given that the UK has its own version of Darpa, in the form of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), they'll surely be offering similar sorts of imaginative prize contests for British inventors, won't they?

    Won't they?

  6. Do us a favour Gordon, it's UK inc, we support civil servants, not wealth creators.
