Why the Falling Pitch of the Blue Whales' Songs?

I don't know but I think we should be told.

  3. Well so is ours. Women's voices have gone down half an octave in fifty years; have you listened to any of those '30's newsreels, with Mrs Neville Chamberlain declaring something open?

  4. ...whale song is a cultural affair. Humpback whales are known to learn from each other, and whales have extraordinarily large and complex brains. They appear to share many social and cognitive traits with people.

    Whales singing classic whale ditties in baritone I can live with, but it'll be "Pass me my harpoon" if they start getting into New Wave.
