The Copenhagen Triumph

I am, frankly, baffled or, indeed, frankly baffled about the generally negative response to the Copenhagen global warming thing. Here in Norfolk it is apparent that it was a raging success. It demonstrated the power positive thinking. They issue a statement along the lines of 'we don't like you, global warming, go away' and, bingo, just like that it went away. And, yes, that is Denis the Menace, explicably, on the side of that shed.

  1. Excellent distractionary (does this word exist? If not it should) tactic. How could you shoot straight when every fibre would be telling you to aim at Dennis? Bit like the picture of the fly on the urinal.

The challenge would be to train the home side to ignore it. Or perhaps put them in blinkers.

One of many distractionary tactics being tried out right now.

  2. So thats the shed were the world famous CRU keep their server? Rolls Royce minds hey?

Mind you going from "the link between ice core and temperature variation was “close to zero” and tree rings were less than 50% reliable" to full on believers, really is a change in the weather. But I suppose when you are trying to unsuccessfully (still) construct a reliable 2000 years temperature record you will grasp at anything that tells you what you want to hear that fits into the paradigm.

So the trees and Ice are partly useful but unreliable, MWP is highly contentious (Siberia is not Europe for one) we are left with a observable warming planet (current) and 387 parts per million?

I am still waiting for Socrates to put a pearler in the top corner, the match so far is a very scrappy affair, maybe we should call it off for bad weather.

The CRU and the IPCC seem to me to be the Don Revie and Roy Keene of the warming team, effective but basically cheats.

  3. Lots of sledging and snowball fights for us, but didn't that Sudanese chap say we are causing a holocaust in Africa?

  4. I'm just disappointed it's not vintage Dennis. And what a sad pair of sheds. I've seen tidier fly-tipping.

  7. For a sound appraisal of the global warming, climate change controversy, I recommend Tim Flannery's "The Weather Makers." Flannery is that rare combination of naturalist and scientist, reminiscent of Alfred Russel Wallace who was also an alarmist as I am as well.

  8. Wasn't Socrates one of the philosopher footballers in that famous Germany v Greece contest, Sean?

Aristotle played as a sweeper that day. Marx claimed the Greek goal was offside.

Nietzsche receives a yellow card after claiming that "Confucius has no free will"; Confucius say "Name go in book". On the 89th minute, Archimedes cries out "Eureka!" and instructs the Greeks to use the football. Socrates scores the only goal of the match in a diving header from a cross from Archimedes. As the sketch closes, the Germans dispute the call; "Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside.
