John 'Walking' Stewart
I like the sound of this fellow. Fancy being known (slightly) to posterity by the epithet 'Walking'...

A blog about, among other things, imaginary ideas - What ifs? and Imagine thats. What if photographs looked nothing like what we see with our eyes? Imagine that the Berlin Wall had never come down. What if we were the punchline of an interminable joke? All contributions welcome.
I knew a bloke with an almost identical epithet. He went blind eventually.
ReplyDeleteLots of people walked all the time in the 18th century, though not many put it altogether in a straight-ish line and wrote about it. Yes, it saves waiting for the invention of the bus, I suppose (and then two inventions come along at once).
Yes there's definitely a book in English pedestrianism. Unfortunately I think it's already been written...
ReplyDelete'Minds me of John "Walking" Clare.
