Another Appleyard on the Turner Prize

Read this at once. The dynasty-forming project is going well.

  1. Interesting point she makes that the Turner prize has 'grown up'. It was surely always complicit in all that phoney outrage (I don't know much about art but I know what I hate...)

    But if you think contemporary conceptual art is worth anything, which I do, then there is a place for an annual prize. Though as she says, prizes are no indicator of what will last. My guess, which will probably be wrong, is that both Emin and Hirst will last, but only the bed, the shark and the cow.
