Matthew and Marilynne

Matthew Parris climbs on board the careering bandwagon of my Brown gone in June forecast. But who cares when there's this? Marilynne being in the running for the Orange Prize is rather like Ian Bostridge putting his name down for Britain's Got Talent, but still...

  1. I'm going to get this woman out of the library because you were right about J.A. Baker. But the synopses look terrible.

  2. In the Baltimore Sun, Marilynne Robinson "describes how [Edgar Allan Poe] inspired her to think about the written word . . . ."

  3. Ian: "Housekeeping" is one of the best novels I've ever read. I refuse to say much about the others for fear of annoying the Number One Fan of M.R. who happens to be the proprietor of this blog!

Also, I am confused...I thought the Orange Prize only went to women writers from England, Australia, Canada, etc. -- didn't know American writers were ever in the running.
