Gordon Brown: the Last Straw
It's been a bad week for Gordon Brown but this really puts the cherry on the cake. Prescott's given him his backing. Here is an open letter I wrote to John Prescott explaining why he would be better employed elsewhere. Since I wrote that, things became even weirder in Prezzaworld. This man simply couldn't exist in other countries. It is hard to imagine him, for example, rising to the top in American politics. However, the moment I wrote that, Dan Quayle came to mind. No, even Quayle cannot match the bizarre, well, wrongness of Prezza. How is he still there? What does he know?

But a government wouldn't be a government without a cringe-worthy politician. Having said that, I really wish he'd bugger off!!
ReplyDeleteThe awesome power of Thought Experiments? Barely were the pixels dry on this post when Prezza said he was sorry and would stand down as Deputy Prime Minister. Sometimes I scare myself
ReplyDeleteYes but he's only saying sorry because he knows he doesn't have to - conference loves him regardless - in fact the worse he behaves the more they love him. On his Greatest Hits compilation, it was the famous Prezza punch that got the biggest cheer. Note too that he was only apologising to the party - the country can go hang.
ReplyDeleteSaw a very brief look at some of the Labour heavies gathered together yesterday. Have to say it resembled a horror movie cast from Prescott(no need to say why surely) to living dead Straw, genuinely scary looking Gordon Brown, and ever more increasingly harried looking Blair. Blair's performance of terribly stressed but good guy underneath it all desperately trying to save the world, is looking pretty wooden and one-dimensional at this stage though. Maybe he should try for the megalomaniac who couldn't give a shite look.
