On Manchester City
I have been rendered speechless by events at the best football team in the world. Under a Welsh manager their Thai owner is selling out to an Arab businessman while they are attempting to pay more than £30 million for a Bulgarian striker. All I can say is that it's a long way from the Sporting Pink, a bag of chips and the bus home. But we must all move with the times.

City are now the richest club in World Football - strange days indeed. Their fans are saying they will now get fuel discounts with their season tickets and kebabs will replace pies at the Blue Camp. As a red, I think the Arabs bought them because their were so many spare seats there for their families to come and watch. and we still got Berbatov.
ReplyDeleteYou're better off with the Brazilian than the Bulgarian. By all accounts the Brazilian cries a lo,t but the Bulgarian definitely sulks a lot
ReplyDeleteJubilant Citeh fans may be somewhat downcast at Madrid's president Ramon Calderon who said: 'The fact he has chosen to join Manchester City shows this decision was not made for sporing reasons'. A long way to go for the folks at the theatre of base comedy.

ReplyDeleteRobinho has left Madrid for City because he likes the rain, and wants to join a club that wins trophies. He will also be near his hero Cristiano.
ReplyDeleteIt has NOTHING to do with the money.
Perhaps it's unfair to say that Man City have just killed football as we know it (since Chelsea and Man U have already done that), but it's a heck of a big nail in the coffin.
ReplyDeleteFootball is dead and something else has taken its place. Possibly soccer.
Achserrly, Robinho is big mates with Elano - see this link

plus we have two other Brazilians. So it's not as if he's going to be lonely, is it? Or poor?
Mad. So lets enjoy the ride!
I too remember the days standing on the Kippax, the Football Pink, the bus home, the 4-3 title win at Newcastle. Recent events have simply accelerated the alienation process, but I can't stop watching City on MOTD, I will no doubt be elated if/when we win something, and i'm delighted for all my City fan mates in Manchester who will be absolutely rubbing Utd fan noses in it right now !
