Grave News

For some reason my February post Homage to H.G.Wells and the Telescope Sign has proved of enduring popularity. It still features daily in my most hit pages list. It was about an especially fine example of one of those seaside pay telescopes at Wells-next-the-Sea in Norfolk. This monument was made all the more cherishable by the wonderful 'found' poem that gave instructions on its use, but also so very much more. Judge then of my horror, when returning today to commune with this masterpiece, I discovered the telescope section had been lopped off. I took this picture as evidence to save any further head clutching about science and belief. At least the poem remains, but something has been lost.

  1. I blame global warming. Either that or Richard Dawkins' t-shirt clad army of pure hard-core atheists have embarked on a campaign of guerilla warfare in their fight for justice.

  3. Salt on the lens. One of the most disappointing experiences of my life was down to salt on the glass, a crossing on a hovercraft.
