Clarkson and the Gay Car
So Jeremy Clarkson has been reprimanded for describing a car as 'gay' - or, to be precise, 'a bit ginger beer'. I dimly remember seeing that particular show, but I can't remember the car and Guardian Media disdains to enlighten me. Can anybody remember? Personally, I find the Lamborghini Murcielago a bit hetero and the Ford Mondeo a bit white. My own Ford Ranger truck is, of course, impeccably half Jewish. But now I'd better shut up.

A blog about, among other things, imaginary ideas - What ifs? and Imagine thats. What if photographs looked nothing like what we see with our eyes? Imagine that the Berlin Wall had never come down. What if we were the punchline of an interminable joke? All contributions welcome.
The car that Jeremy dissed is the Daihatsu Copen. It doesn't sound very promising, does it?
ReplyDeletehe is the thinking man's Richard Littlejohn! (allegedly - by extrapolation) don't ask me, I know nothing about jam jars.
ReplyDeleteLittlejohn is a bit Mondeo.
See what you mean, Sophie, that Copen is an odd litle thing.
ReplyDeleteI remember reading a couple of years ago that the Mini had been voted the most homosexual car in France...whatever that means

ReplyDeleteI once drove a small, red Renault. My girlfriend at the time described it as a 'girls' car' - comparable to her own VW Polo. Well, it worked fine. We do seem to genderise cars: perhaps this legitimates some of them being gay? Gay cars can stand up and be proud too can't they?
