Potato Day - The Morning After...

All Peru was en fête yesterday to celebrate Potato Day. Good for them. We in Britain also have a Potato Day of a kind, a movable feast around the end of January, beginning of February. Surely we should do more to celebrate the doughty tuber. Perhaps we could rename Potato Day as Wayne Rooney Day...

  2. They're coming in thick and fast today. Is the Bryan Nige blog alliance a kind of internet version of the Lennon McCartney songwriting partnership with each feeding off the other's clearly drug-fuelled energy?

  3. More like Wilson, Kepple and Betty, I'd say, Andrew - but without the Betty. Bryan, we need a Betty!

  4. Your Betty is just an emailed job offer away.

  5. I see that their Cleopatra's Nightmare routine was performed in 1936 in Berlin and condemned by Josef Goebbels as indecent. Whatever one's opinions on the master of propaganda, Goebbels, one must wonder about the morality of this updated Wilson, Keppy and Betty act- with or without the Betty. And what's worse, you seem brazenly proud it all, Nige.
    Dismayed.

  6. Are you mad? We need a Betty like a hole in the head. She'd just start telling us what to do. I see us more like half of Ted's quartet in Scrubs.

  10. Amanda's latest headline: "Summertime means a minor uptick in book reviews of page-turners."

That's sheer poetry, by any standards.

  11. It is indeed the verbal personification of that which is referred to by the word elegance.

  12. Ah, potatoes. A noble root. Gives me an idea of how to use some of the fragrant dill weed going wild among my roses: Potato/cheddar soup spiced with dill. Perhaps served cool since it is getting rather hot (90 degrees F. today) in these parts.

Oh. Were you talking about something else? Who is Betty? Boop? Crocker?
