Alarming developments, too, on the cat front. Mr Lee is not alone - there's an army of them out there on the prowl, all catcam-enabled, as a quick Google search will reveal. And somewhere in one of those picture galleries is the one captioned 'Here's that bastard Appleyard. At last...'
On the other hand, my son has just acquired an entirely delightful blue-eyed ginger tom kitten, 3 months old and cute as they come. All together now (except Appleyard) - Aaaah...

Don't worry, Bryan, that Aaaah will turn to Ugggh as soon as Tom puts next door's moggie up the duff, comes in spitting blood from a punch-up with that ferocious, one-eyed killer at No. 13, and two pounds of ginger fluff clog up the vacuum.
ReplyDeleteThis post is by Nige, johntyh. I would never describe a kitten as cute, it is a junior spitball.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Bryan, how could I have missed that? Anyway, Nige, think-on, 3 months old cutie is primed by nature to create havoc. For now, he grins knowingly at those who say 'Aaaah'.
ReplyDeleteevil can be cute
ReplyDeleteIt can indeed, Elberry - think Kim Jong Il singing I'm So Ronery in Team America...
ReplyDeleteKittens are adorable and older toms (one is leaning against my knee right now) are also first-rate companions. Our 12-year-old feline spends his nights out wreaking havoc (he's missing part of an ear, and has a variety of battle scars, and costs us bucket-loads of dough at the vet's) and his days inside purring and cuddling with us. Cats are the original Jekyll/Hyde characters.
ReplyDeleteIn another post, I'll tell you about the time Brad flew. It involves a very large crow Brad was stalking from a ledge above the bird and was witnessed by our astonished neighbors while they were having breakfast.
I look forward to that, Susan - a pity Brad wasn't equipped with Catcam at the time...
ReplyDeleteWe want pictures, Nige! Every Friday. Might as well test the proprietor's sense of decorum and forebearance now.
ReplyDeleteI ran across Mr. Lee a couple of weeks ago - cute concept unless Mr. Lee suffers a premature death and it is recorded. That I can do without. Susan's outdoor cat is extremely lucky to have made it to 12, particularly because he spends evenings out.
Don't worry, Ronin - I'm working on my son to set up a fansite for the kitten (he is called Mr Tinker) and I intend to annoy Bryan with images of his cute ginger face at every opportunity.
ReplyDeleteMy own outdoor tom, from years back, made it to about 5 before the inevitable appointment with an oncoming car. Sadly my much more sensible (and likeable) spayed female met the same end at about the same age.
Ronin: He's made it to 12 because he routinely gets taken to the vet to have abscesses drained, stitches given where needed (he once had his rear end badly bitten, probably by a raccoon he was trying to get away from), and so forth. Last summer, though, he was really sick: All the fur was disappearing off his face and he wouldn't eat -- and he is an enormous cat, too: Several feet long when stretched out.
ReplyDeleteTurns out he had an infection made worse by his claggy teeth. They knocked him out, cleaned his teeth, shaved and cleaned the wound on his chin, gave us megadoses of antibiotics to give him, and he recovered. Allan had the fun of giving him those pills, too: It involved a straw, butter, and catching and holding the feline. He's a very friendly guy, but doesn't care about food much (so no use secreting a pill in meat or cheese), and doesn't like to take meds.
I do think, however, that he must be on one of the last of his nine lives. Yet he can't be kept in at night. We've tried and at about 2 a.m. he starts going crazy, yowling and knocking stuff over.
It is foolishness.Don't worry Bryan that cute will turnto Ugggh as soon as Tom puts next door's moggie up the duff.
