On Homer

The Sunday Times profiles are unsigned, but I can exclusively reveal to readers of Thought Experiments that this one - of Homer Simpson - is by me.

  1. That is an excellent essay. And might go some way to explain why people just like and will listen to Charles Kennedy. A good hearted man, who is not a prig.

  2. Thanks, Vince, and I agree about Kennedy. He also has a sense of humour - well, you' d need one to be leader of the Libdems.

  3. i really liked that. i think it's true that shows like this can be a kind of 'propaganda', or rather an education, the subtler the better.

  4. I think Homer amended the Whitman quote to, "I am large, I contain multitudes *of donuts*."

Very good piece, too. We've another in our paper today that I will try to find the link to -- it's clear that Homer is from Greater Philadelphia!

I think the case is incontrovertible: Duff's beer at Moe's; Villanova University; nuclear power plant (Three-Mile Island); and so on.
