And Yes I'm...

...back. Some pesky FTPs were to blame apparently. They have been made to stand in a corner watching Iranian TV. Many thanks to the loyal campaigners and no thanks to the Blogger 'discussion group', the members of which seemed to think it outrageous that I should even ask for help. They just sit there and wait apparently, devoid of any trace of humour or joy. But, in the immortal words of George V, 'Bugger Blogger.'

  1. Are you going to have a victory parade?

Delighted your back. I knew the campaign would work.

  2. "Delighted your back." What the f*** is that supposed to mean?

  3. Yes, Edwina. I made a mistake. I was so excited by the prospect of regular Thought Experiments that I missed an apostrophe. I now hang my head in shame, go trudging off into the distance, and you'll never see me again...

  4. I can't say I'm disappointed, you Welsh tit.

  5. No excuses now Bryan. Absence without leave is treated as a grave matter in these parts.

Whilst I sit on my lazy derrière here I like to read Thought Experiments: it's my RIGHT, and I will not have it taken away.

And whilst the same lazy derrière slumps on the sofa of a Sunday its owner likes to read your thoughtful and intelligent musings in The Sunday Times. But, you weren't there last weekend.

Now there's only room for a few lazy buggers around here and I got the hat first so get back to work and amuse me.

  6. Well back to normal commentwise and good to hear your salty tones once more, Edwina. Yes, Recusant, I have been lax. The ST does occasionally survive without me, God knows how. But I shall do my best.

  7. well, dammit all, sugar...i was ready to post support for you here across the pond...well, ok, since you're up and running again...take care, sugar...i'm off to tell tony the news...

  8. Thanks, Savannah, it was worth it just to be called 'sugar' by somebody from Georgia.

  9. Welcome back and all that. The best thing for me when I moved to Typepad from Blogger was the wonderful help you get. You send them an email and next morning (they are in California) you have your answer -- to your actual question. You can even have an interaction with the same person, unless it is a dastardly plot and they are all called Sue as part of the job description.

On Wordpress, you get good help in the sense that someone answers, but usually it is along the lines of "yeah, that's a bit of a bummer isn't it".

    Happy days. [sugar]

  11. Glad to know you're back and spitting fire. Rock on, Calvados.

  12. Hey Bryan, I'm from Ontario, Canada and I'll call you 'sugar' if you want. Not the same thing, you say? Hmm, somehow I suspected not.

  13. I'm delighted to be back (home) from Edinburgh and delighted to see things are back to normal here. I thought for a minute you may have got caught up in some of 'the troubles'.

  14. i just assumed you were dead in a ditch in Bradford, the fate of us all in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  15. i'm glad you're not, though.

Bradford is really the last place in the world you'd want to be when you die.

  16. Late to the party as always, I see. Imagine that the bar ran dry hours ago. Ah, well.

Heartiest congratulations on your release from Blogger Hell, Bryan. Hope you found the place in reasonably decent shape upon your return.

  17. Jesus wept! That took a while. Anyway, you're back. Now, get to work and have something funny and/or interesting for me to read when I get into to work tomorrow morning.

  18. But Nige has been expurgated or defenestrated or something... Has he a bad case of the ftps too ?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh no pressure then, Neil. Nige is taking a well-earned break in France where he does no expect to be attacked by giant birds. The French are a problem, of course, but then nothing is perfect.

  20. Peter, you can call him "maple syrup."

  21. Do you want to tell everyone how you acted like a whiny little baby instead of asking for help like human being at the help group, or should I?

    Dickwad.

    ReplyDelete
  22. what's a 'dickwad'? is it a good thing? it sounds like the sort of thing they'd talk about, glowingly, in the porn industry, e.g. 'that guy is a dickwad, we love him, the girls love him, we're gonna make another movie, The Return of Dickwad, with Sylvia Saint.'

i wish someone would call me a dickwad. But they won't.

  23. As ever, Elberry, you are right. It is a great honour.

  24. Phew! You're back...I thought that Customs & Excise had bundled you off to Belmarsh

  25. Good point, Windbag. That may well be the causes of my next disappearance.

  26. "Some pesky FTPs were to blame apparently."

Which is why you should always use a condom.
