Never Keep a Blog

In his book on Joseph Conrad, Ford Madox Ford reports a woman saying to one of her nieces, 'My dear, never keep a diary. It may one day be used against you.' Change 'diary' to 'blog' and you will understand the anxiety attack that struck me yesterday when I had second thoughts - far too late! - about my post Why I Hate Cats. Somehow, I feel, this will one day be used against me, if only by cats.

  1. Over the past few posts, I have read with interest your very real issues with cats. Being near savaged whilst in your cot by the knackerless family pet must leave scars. Any issues with opera or other high pitched noise.
But, short of someone catapulting a large mog at your head and the fright smokin you, I don't see how it may be used against you. Mind you, the post did explain the problem as non-medical.

  2. It's a matter, Vince, of, as it were, the flavour of the revelation - very personal. People might demand more or might cast doubt on my objectivity. Did, for example, Jeffrey Archer attack me in my cot?

  3. If he did, Bryan, you can console yourself with the thought that he always has a look of the cat who got the cream.

  4. Hmmm, there is not a snowballs chance in hell of any doubt being cast on your objectivity.

  5. Don't worry, if the Pope can apologize for the Crusades and keep his ratings, you've obviously got plenty of time to recant and embrace the vile creatures in lifelong penance. First, you should hire a Hollywood publicity coach to help you master sincerity and empathy.

  6. What's to apologize for about for the Crusades? And Bryan, you mean Jeffrey didn't attack you in your cot?

  7. There's been no post today about Gordon Brown, an encouraging sign that confronting your Inner Stripey via The Cot Diaries is helping you to let go and move on. A few more diary entries featuring hot babes from the Israeli Defence Forces might prove therapeutic.
