Bombinating

Sorry about the hiatus. Bryan is of course still detained in the desert on a horse with no name and, as we all know, in the desert you can remember your name, 'cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain... Meanwhile, I was bombinating about in a distracted manner and unable to post. (Talking of bombinating, on Saturday I had a close-up view of one of these weird creatures, which hang in the air, hovering and looking exactly like one of Bosch's minor creations.)
The news has been so tedious it's hard to care. This morning, no doubt, Austria will be on the analyst's couch, searching its collective soul etc, after the latest wacko emerges blinking into the sunlight. God knows Austria has much to question itself about, but this particular phenomenon is by no means confined to Austria. The situation there will no doubt remain what it always was - 'desperate, but not serious'.
Meanwhile, it's good to see that the true Olympic spirit thrives in North Korea. As Pak Hak Son, chairman of that country's Olympic committe puts it: ' While some impure forces have opposed China's hosting of the games this summer and have been disruptive, we believe that constitutes a challenge to the Olympic idea.' Quite so.

  1. We had one of those in the garden last year and I got briefly very excited thinking it might be a bee moth. It turns out to be a common species although I have never seen one before, despite looking bout for such things. An amazing creature all the same.

  3. The news has been so tedious, Nige, it's been hardly worth reading even your take on it. But the bulletin on the bee was just about worth the effort.

  4. I did like the bee, maybe we can genetically engineers a huge one and it can attack North Korea. Like Mothra attacks Japan.

  5. There used to be an old Cockney ditty, sang in the new towns pubs by, er, new towners (cockneys in Hertfordshire).
"Go away you bumble bee, I ain't no rose, I ain't no syphilitic flower pot get off me f.....g nose, etc, etc." Not one of Noel's finest I thought.
I have worked out why Bryan (remember him ?) sloped off, he must have known that once more, he had missed the top 100 rich list, and wished to avoid the embarrassment, not by much I daresay.

  6. Just looked at those photo's from the Daily Tel. The Koreans all look a lot taller than normal, must all be standing on parrots.

  7. Cool bee-fly. So much for species extinction. We just celebrated "Earth Day" here and my son attended an event at his school. In patronizing p.c. fashion, they asked all the kids what they could do to help the environment ("carpool to school," "reuse grocery bags," etc.) and my 14 year old son had an answer that shut them up: "Kill all the humans." If my son is turning into an Elberry, I don't know what I'll do....

  9. When he was younger, we used to say to him that we didn't know if he'd wind up in the White House or the big house (prison), but we were pretty sure it would be one or the other!
