The Solution
Correct - the Joshua Tree Desert where the Garden of Eden is to be found; it is called Hidden Valley. The Californian High Desert is now my favourite place on earth.

A blog about, among other things, imaginary ideas - What ifs? and Imagine thats. What if photographs looked nothing like what we see with our eyes? Imagine that the Berlin Wall had never come down. What if we were the punchline of an interminable joke? All contributions welcome.
Ah and I see it's Zippy's last resting place too - another who paid the price of excess...

I hope that's what was on your CD player Bryan, Buckweat Zydeco's version, of course.
But who (or what) is Gram?
ReplyDeleteGram is Gram Parsons, onetime member of the country-rock groups Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers, and singer of haunting duets with Emmylou Harris. Parsons had an obsessive attraction to Joshua Tree in his last, drug-addled years and (I think) died there of an overdose. Friends stole his body from a mortuary and partially cremated it at the stone in the picture.
ReplyDeleteCome back in mid-August, or mid-December, and let us know if you feel the same about it.
ReplyDeleteGiven Bryan's sudden infatuation with the high desert of California, perhaps we should all pray that he doesn't fall down the same rabbit hole as poor Gram Parsons.
