The Lost Server

Sorry about that. The server's girlfriend left him and he went on the most horrific bender. He was found naked and chained to a lamp post in Tooting. He's back now but I think it would be kinder to have him put down.

  1. Whew! I thought maybe it was something I'd caused. I've felt a bit like Typhoid Mary the past few days: the Telegraph website was inaccessible for almost 24 hours just after I visited it Sunday in search of Nige's link, your website disappeared after I posted 10 unfunny captions, and a large part of the TimesOnLine website began returning internal server error messages moments after I arrived there.

Of course, the important question is, Did he get into your pantry and is all the Bushmills gone? Or do we still have hope of finding suitable libations when we all show up on your doorstep early next Saturday to celebrate your reappearance?

  2. No our booze cabinet - well, it's more of a container ship - is still intact. Get going wit those unfunny captions.

  3. Well, Cap'n, I came up with a couple despite being half-asleep. As it is, I must get up early and commiserate with my brother about the impending electoral collapse of the political party to which he has devoted the last 40 years of his life. (From what I've read, the avid Tories amongst your readers might well empathize with him, their relations with me.)

  4. In fact, I just discovered the server was a Northern Rock investor.

  6. That's all right then, the government will make him half. (Whole would probably cost too much, be a bad example to others, and violate G. Brown's Scots thrift.)

  7. Oops! I was thinking depositor and you wrote "investor." As Roseanne Rosannadanna once said, "Never mind." As Gracie Allen always replied when George Burns said, "Say goodnight, Gracie," Good night.

  9. When I returned earlier than expected from a blogging session and said "Bryan's crashed!", Mrs Johnty said "Hope he's not badly hurt. Anyway, does that mean Sunday's Times will be 4 pages light?"
