my scheme would be to install miles and miles of travelators going all over the country. then if you want to walk it's up to you, and if you don't, fine!
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, H.G. Wells came up with something very similar - moving roads, going along at various speeds, with the fastest in the middle. Funny it never caught on...

ReplyDeletewhat we really need is enhanced virtual reality coma and eliminate any need for moving around. we could be in one now, Nige, we'd never know it. trouble is, if it were so, why would we pay to be miserable bastards? that's how we know.
