A blog about, among other things, imaginary ideas - What ifs? and Imagine thats. What if photographs looked nothing like what we see with our eyes? Imagine that the Berlin Wall had never come down. What if we were the punchline of an interminable joke? All contributions welcome.
surely, that's the theme tune to Great Escape.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be an honour, Johntyh!
ReplyDeleteI'm especially looking forward to the dramatic climax when the commandos realize that drowning all those innocents would be a war crime and that war can never be justified anyway, so instead they will all just go home and start a United Nations club.
ReplyDeleteI think they'll hit problems when they come to the point where Barnes Wallis utters the never-to-be-forgotten words "Go out and bounce the bastards!" Unpalatable as they seem to us, you just can't change words that inspired a generation.
ReplyDeleteIan, surely that goes DaDa da-da-da Da Da Daa...
ReplyDeleteNige, I'm sure you're getting confused with the theme to 'Where Eagles Dare'.
ReplyDeleteNo, it's the theme tune to 'Grange Hill'.
ReplyDeleteThis is good though, this Blog Karaoke. I'll go next...
Mustang Salleeeeeh...
If they want box office, I think they should go instead for The Dame Busters featuring bouncing bras and, of course, Monica Belluci.
ReplyDeleteAnd meanwhile in the Iraqi charts, Number One with a bullet - I Got You Babe by Sunni and Shia.
ReplyDeleteAnd selling well in Basra 'We Gotta Get Out of This Place' by Run-MoD
ReplyDeleteCuriously, that article doesn't say who wrote the screenplay, but I just happened upon it looking up something else: The writer is Stephen Fry! Is this a funny movie?
ReplyDeleteIn the course of my perusal of various comedians (it all began when I was confirming the spelling of Drew Carey's last name -- so easily confused with Jim Carrey), I read a long article on Ryan Stiles, late of "Whose Line Is It Anyway"?
How many here think that GORDON McCABE bears a striking resemblance to RYAN STILES? (Check out McCabism to find photos of the physicist on a trip to a scholarly conference.)
I almost bought a Liverpool shirt last week with 'Peter Crouch' on the back. I decided against it though, on the basis that I might actually get mistaken for him, and asked to play up front with Kirt Dyke, or someone.
ReplyDeleteI caught a recent American version of 'Whose Line is it Anyway?', and, astonishingly, Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie are still going! Clive Anderson looks like he's put on some weight though.
